Use the right background
Where a sample is available, assess it against the actual stone or a representative offcut. Review it in the room’s daylight and artificial light. A sample viewed in isolation cannot show every aspect of the installed finish.
Review the details
Consider sheen, feel and the transition to uncovered areas. Ask how full-size seam and edge details may differ from a small sample. A sample is a decision aid, not a guarantee that every surface condition will produce the same result.
Record the choice
Keep the exact product name and finish with the acceptance record. Ask whether the quoted system matches the sample. If the surface is being repaired or refinished first, review how that preparation may affect the final appearance.
