Stone protection for interior designers

Make the finish part of the specification.

Specify the visual outcome

Document the stone, finish and visible faces. Include relevant lighting conditions and adjacent materials. Discuss how film will change the feel or sheen and whether a sample can be reviewed with the client.

Consider the finish, the edge profile and the light across your surface.

Resolve details before procurement

Show edge profiles, returns, fittings and anticipated seam locations. Identify the person responsible for confirming product suitability and final measurements. Sample approval should relate to the actual product intended for installation.

Carry the specification through handover

Record the accepted coverage and finish in the final scope. Coordinate with the builder on readiness and access. Include product care information in the client handover so the intended finish is supported by an appropriate maintenance routine.
