Existing stone repairs before protection film

Start with an honest picture of the surface.

Show repairs in context

Send a close-up of each filled chip, repaired crack or adjusted join, followed by a wider photo showing its position. Describe any previous polishing or coating and provide the product details if known. The aim is to assess the proposed film against the actual surface rather than its original showroom specification.

Consider the finish, the edge profile and the light across your surface.

Keep repair and protection separate

A repair may remain visible through a surface film. Film should not be presented as a structural reinforcement or a guaranteed way to hide a colour or sheen difference. If movement or an unresolved defect is present, that requires its own decision before an installation scope can be agreed.

Define preparation and expectations

Ask whether any preparation is included and what appearance is reasonably expected afterward. Record uncertain conditions and any exclusions in the quote. Where a repair material or existing treatment is unknown, product compatibility may need further confirmation. Send available information first; do not strip or sand the surface simply to prepare for a quotation.
